I studied fisheries biology at university & did some whale research during the end of my degree. When they breach & jump out of the water they leave behind some skin on the surface, so we were collecting that for identification. Also their tail fluke contains individual markings that are unique to the animal, like a finger print, so we were also photographing the tails.
One day while we were out on the water we saw two huge humpback whales. They popped up out of the water and saw us too and headed straight for the boat. They swan underneath and alongside us for a long time. I was both mesmerized and terrified at the same time. You really don't realise how big they are until they are underneath your boat and a small flick of a tail could send us into the ocean.
I painted this watercolour of a humpback to bring some of that beauty into your home and will always be enamored by these amazing animal's.
Packaging & delivery
Prints are printed on quality archival matte long lasting paper using high quality archival ink. The print colour's are really vivid and beautiful.
All posters are printed by me in my home studio in the Northern Rivers. So totally handmade.

-Your print will be sent in a protective cardboard mailing tube for A3 and A2; and
